I have been following Jeff Lemire’s Substack and he has had a great running series of Colonel Weird & Little Andromeda short stores with various writers and artists. Colonel Weird is by far my favorite character from the Black Hammer universe, so I’ve really been enjoying them.

I'm indifferent to the comic/graphic novel debate, but I typically only refer to everything as "comics" anyways.
I'm subscribed to a few other stacks! Chip Zdarsky's, Ryan Stegman and Donny Cates', Kyle Higgins', and Matt Rosenberg's are the ones off the top of my head. I think Exploding Giraffe is the only one I get to read new comic bits every week! Still, I enjoy and recommend them all if you have the time (I don't even know that I do, but hey).

Everlasting Productions (Elsa Charretier & Tom King), Three Worlds/Three Moons (Mike Huddleston, Mike del Mundo, Jonathan Hickman), and Chip Zdarsky are all great. I'm really loving Public Domain on the Zdarsky Substack.

I’ve paid for quite a few comic substacks -- namely Jeff Lemire, James Tynion, Chip Zdarksy, and Tom King/Elsa Charretier (and of course this one right here!). All of them I highly recommend.
I also read Garbage Day, from writer Ryan Broderick. It’s all about Internet trend which as an Old who doesn’t want to bother with TikTok I find fascinating.

Here's a couple Substacks (unpaid ad) for writers I like.
First is Robert Boyd, former TCJ writer/editor, current man about town (if your town is Houston, TX) writing mostly about the art scene there: https://thegreatgodpanisdead.substack.com
Second is https://www.theterminal.info where James Hennessy writes about technology and business from a perspective that I appreciate.

Peition to change The Tower to The Perverts....?
Huge congrats to all involved in Paper Girls, the show looks immaculate !! I can't imagine how rad it must be to see youses story rendered for the silver screen <3
Vis a vis substacks - agree with all your reccs Brian. ND Stevenson's work rocks and Jen Bartel is a truly fantastic artist LAWD !!! Also I heard Sexy Trans Writer Queen is ground-breaking material, even if infrequently updated.... :p
A quick question: to what extent fo you the creators find the weekly page-by-page nature of the story shaping how you are telling it?? A bit like how Dickens's work was published chapter by chapter and that really shaped the overall story, uno. And yes I am comparing this glorious sex-fest violent-a-thon to the decidedly less so Great Expectations.
Have a wonderful week all, I'm going to go watch some Star Trek now xx

Really glad Jen Bartel got a shout out, because her art is amazing, and her expansive deep dives into not-comics are really enlightening. 11/10 would recommend.
Substack has been a really refreshing way to directly support the creators I love. I've really enjoyed all the 'stacks I've subscribed to, but especially Hickman & Co's 3w/3m (do you like graphs?), Empire of the Tiny Onion (do you just like Tynion?) and Chip's newsletter (do you like self-deprecating third-person jokes?). Jeff Lemire's Tales from The Farm and The Scorpio Room for Phenomenocity are also great!

This crazy stack introduced me to Substack but since then I get a good chuckle out of Chip Zdarsky’s. I also follow Jeff Lemire and have been enjoying Jason Aaron’s as well.

Oh, great recommendations, thank you! Personally, I've quite enjoyed Kelly Thompson's substack since it got brought up here a while ago (is there a chance to invite her to the podcast? She'd be amazing!)
I tried following the link to see the substacks you are following, but it says the page is private. Can you please update it? Thanks!
Hi, I paid the $250 founder fee and still haven’t received access to The Tower and I’m not sure how to get you my address to ship the gifts, thanks.
am i to understand there will be nomenclature fights here? i like to watch
Perverted and proud. I'm curious what others recommend too. I'll be lurking around.

The only substack I currently subscribe to is Exploding Giraffe. What should I be paying attention to in substack world?
