One of my best friend’s moms made me a whole German chocolate cake so I might have diabetes as I ate 80% of it in 4 days. & I started Mr Inbetween. Shame it isn’t being shouted about constantly. & I missed you all.

I got the gift of turning 39 on NYE, which was somehow not as heavy as turning 30, but still pretty weird????

For some reason, having a birthday at the end of the year makes the whole end of the year super weird and reflective, but also sorta celebratory?

I dunno, I've only been here four decades, this shit is still all-so-confusing.

After a year of feeling like my ability to focus was forever lost, I was completely sucked into Joe Hill's Horns over the Christmas break. It was so rewarding to have the ability to sit and read without self-inflicted distractions interrupting my attention. I'm sure I mostly have Hill's captivating story to thank, but I feel like I rebuilt a little bit of my attention span over the break by finishing that book.

Santa treated us to a new toilet seat this year. It's grey, just like it's predecessor. But this one is tight, so my buttocks are finally safe from the chaos of said predecessors final few weeks.

My family watched Everything Everywhere All At Once over the holidays and it was incredible. Very long, but every second is a thrill. I will say my mom wasn't too thrilled by the trophy buttplug scene but my brother thought it was hilarious.

I wonder if any ghosts have gone to the center of the earth? It seems like it would be cool only if they could bring lights and equipment. Do they feel a turning when they're below ground? Do they feel anything at all?

My wife gave me an envelope on the 4th night of Hanukkah that had a note which read “Redeem for one Commission” Which she knew would be used to commission Mike Allred to draw a bar fight between Elton John and Billy Joel. This has been a most festive holiday season.

Oh thank god. Welcome back! I also got stuck in Ohio for five extra days...RIP.

I DID make it back for NYE though. Each year my girlfriend and I do our “top ten’s” before the ball drops. One is “top ten new things consumed.” I cried tears of VERY proud joy when she had Saga at her #6. She rarely reads comics!

My husband gave me an orange Cramer kik-step library stool (you know the kind that rolls but pushes down in place when you step on it) and it is everyone's new favorite functional toy. Folding step stools are for losers.

I watched RRR and was blown away. I made really cool folded book art for my family and friends. And I got Catwoman: Lonely City and a t-shirt of our Hopeful sign. Have you seen Maine's Hopeful sign? How about folded book art? Have you seen that? I wish I could show you. Yin yang cats and clef note hearts were the two best.

Happy New Year to all.

I enjoyed the time with the kids, built LEGO sets, read with them, played some video games. The Menu which is currently on HBO was a fun surprise and the only grown up thing I watched all break.

Hooray, new Tower-Update, the year has started for real - can‘t wait to see where this is gonna go next (and what a gorgeous spread-page, Niko)! My favorite bit of holiday consumption would probably have to be the night where we fell into a food coma after an amazing meal and watched „Glass Onion“ with the extended family.

I was gifted a tile-placement game called "Carcassonne" and have been delighted to play it with family and friends. I much prefer this kind of thing to card games.

I took a film studies class in college that centered around John Ford, so I became excited and terrified when he showed up in The Fablemans, but I can honestly say I have never laughed harder at an ending in my entire life. I really enjoyed the whole thing and Michelle Williams is just at the top of her game in it. On a similar note, the rest of my family gives it a meh. Good to see you all back!

Yay! Welcome back! Didn’t realize how much I missed this thread. The holidays were a blur. My family got a new puppy, a old soul Goldendoodle named Comet. He’s great, but for some reason, now that our kids are mostly autonomous and let us sleep through the night, my wife and I thought it would be great to be woken up at ungodly hours again.

Was gifted some fun books and records. Ryan North and Albert Montey’s Slaughterhouse Five adaptation, A Frank Ocean bootleg, Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN and Andy Shauf’s Wilds. Built Lego and played board games with my kids. The week back to work last week was hard.

So glad to see Spectators in the inbox again! Our festivities were postponed to this weekend due to weather-related travel. But it meant having a glorious unplanned six days at home with no work. We watched We Are Lady Parts on Peacock, some Muslim women start a punk rock band and it was pretty epic. Read lots of books and can highly recommend the Steerswoman series.
