Gosh...hard to beat the brilliance of Do the Right Thing, I think. Raising Arizona is up there too!

Loved this installment. These characters are great. Want to follow them to the scenes of all the disasters.

Hard question, want to say The Thing or Stand By Me, but there is no single movie (including those) I have seen more than Ghostbusters and Back to the Future.

Gonna go Ghostbusters.

Let's see what we've got here... Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro, the documentary Thin Blue Line, and Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom. I guess of those the ones that stick out to me are Kiki's Delivery Service and Thin Blue Line. Although generally documentaries are not to be trusted. Filmmakers have a million ways to trick you at their disposal.

Favorite does not mean best, so I think my favorite would be either Big Trouble in Little China, Aliens, Blues Brothers or Raiders of the Lost Ark.

My eldest son's would be The Thing.

This is a difficult one so I’ll name a few. Big, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, ET, Goonies, Coming to America, Do the Right Thing, La Bamba, Karate Kid..I could keep going..

Had to Google to make sure it was in the decade and Yes! I just squeezed in at 1980.

The best movie of the 80s and all time is Airplane!

Labyrinth! Bowie! Jim Henson! Puppets! Sci-fantasy! Checks all the boxes endlessly rewatchble. Also the king of comedy. If you opened it up to tv Miami Vice deserves an honorable mention at least the first couple Michael Mann helmed seasons beautiful new wave MTV cops in Lamborghini’s where there’s no problem that can’t be solved with a neon gunfight

This week was fantastic. Great dialogue. Can't wait for next week! Ooof. Almost all of my favorite movies are from the 80s. Back to the Future is the G.O.A.T. but speaking to something that specifically FEELS very 80s, I would say The Golden Child. (Doctor Detroit is a close second and I'm not ashamed to admit that)

The 1980's are difficult because by this time the New Hollywood era has ended and studios are making "safer bets" at the box office following the financial failure of Heaven's Gate. Tarantino himself laments the 80's as a decade bad for film (but rightly singles out Terminator for being wonderful.) I feel like a film to represent the best of the genre filmmaking that would follow and eventually dominate the cinema landscape is Blade Runner. Defining cyberpunk aesthetic, and incredibly contemplative narrative, this has all you want out of a Sci Fi masterpiece to this day. In a rare occurrence for films that have multiple re-releases, I'd actually suggest The Final Cut to those who've never seen the film before.

THE THIN BLUE LINE, by Errol Morris. It not only changed the idea of a documentary, it changed cinema. Oh, and it got an innocent man out of prison, so there's that, too.

Short Circuit 2! Johnny 5! So many great quotes and scenes. I was a child watching the movie on Saturday local tv (WPIX Channel 11 is what I remember) in NYC. It probably played every other month. I think I'll watch it tonight! I always remember when he helps a gang steal car radios. Johnny just wanted to help friends and learn all there is about the world.
