My favorite comedy podcast is Blank Check with Griffin and David. They go through an entire directors filmography. It's hilarious and they also offer a lot of insight on the art of film and storytelling. Start with the series they did on Sam Raimi.
I can always rely on Futurama for a comfortable comedic safe haven (so much so I have a Futurama sleeve on my right arm) - but this last weekend on a whim I binged Solar Opposites. A lot like Rick and Morty with a little more serial structure, but much of the same absurdity and irreverence. Worth a watch if you’ve burnt through the rest of the typical adult animation fare! It’s gross and has some heart for sure!
The Rehearsal is seriously the best. Although it just got canceled, I can't recommend Joe Pera Talks with You enough. It's equally as funny as it is charming.
Have you watched Nathan For You? I caught that from Tell Em Steve Dave (one of my fav podcasts but isn’t for everyone) & was FLOORED for The Rehearsal. I love it & evangelize about it so much. Your friend did an INCREDIBLE but also possibly mean job at one point! Lol!
It’s ALL so fascinating. Everything Everywhere had me housing, Bill Burr’s Immoral Compass had me in tears laughing, Lady To Lady podcast always cracks me up, & standup from Laurie Kilmartin, Liz Miele, Jackie Kashian (comic book fan!), Beth Stelling, & a new Alonzo Bodden special for FREE on YouTube! So much great comedy out there, no matter what a rich director says about how difficult it is to do comedy. & I keep living for the new Martin McDonagh. Apologies for the ramble...
Joe Pera Talks With You is the largest dose of melatonin legally available in the United States. Highly recommend taking at least a couple of hits before bed.
Only Murders in the Building. I’m obsessed with this show. Not only is it a great murder mystery, it’s absolutely hilarious. Steve Martin and Martin Short are just amazing! Martin Short’s character in particular is fantastic comedy relief. Selena Gomez completely blew me away. I had no idea what to expect with her, but wow. The guest stars are fun. I’ve watched season 1 twice and am currently making my way through season 2.
For TV, I'm enjoying What We Do in the Shadows, Reservation Dogs and Lower Decks the most right now. They're at least getting the biggest laughs from me! Comics-wise, I find Mark Russell to be doing some of the best comedy at the moment, especially when paired with artists like Steve Lieber or Steve Pugh or other Steve's. For podcasts, I'm a fan of Conan OBrien Needs a Friend, Fly on the Wall and How Did This Get Made.
I just got to see Tig Notaro last week. What a treat. So fully in control of storytelling, that she can walk back and forward over setups and punchlines and get new and different laughs each time. Also, Zach Galifianakis opened for her, which was fun for us but maybe not for him.
Comedy Bang Bang is also currently touring around North America, and killing it each night. They're posting their shows the day after. It's a joy listened to Paul F Tompkins, Scott Aukerman, and a rotating crew of guests progressively improvise themselves into madness.
Speaking of drugs, I feel like I’m on a lot of them watching The Rehearsal. It’s absolutely bizarre and undeniably fascinating.
As for a good laugh fix I can always rely on comedian/singer-songwriter/award winning drag queen Trixie Mattel to get me out of whatever slump I’m in (and let’s face it, I’m very slump prone). Whether it’s her YouTube videos, her podcast with fellow queen Katya, or her stage show (seen her 5 times now) her intelligence and whit is only matched by her beauty.
An old-fashioned hardcover book was just gifted to me for my birthday, and it's astounding. It's called PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER, and it's translated from German. The author is Patrick Suskind, and it's a black comedy heavily researched historical fiction page-turner for the ages. I recommend you snag it in the aforementioned hardcover form, as it reads like an artifact in some strange way. Enjoy!
thank u for the anti-endorsement

I’ve been rewatching Mythic Quest and Archer, but I’d love to find something new to watch/read/listen to from the comments this week!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Taskmaster is the funniest telly show on telly. Check it out!!!
Comedians doing silly tasks written by comedians to impress the Overlord comedian. It's perfect in my humble eyes.
I have to make some jokes at my best friend's wedding two weeks today; as the best man. If anybody has any advice or funny ideas please let me know 😇
He's a comic nerd too. But is two full arcs behind on saga (whhhhhyyyyyyyyyy).

Dr. Shelton prescribes a nice healthy dose of “The Office” for your comedy fill. 😁👍
The new season of Harley Quinn is off to an incredible start. Can’t recommend highly enough!
