PAPER GIRLS - Now Streaming?!
Plus, your chance to win the ultimate Paper Girls prize pack...
You’re about to find out, dreamboy!
Brian here, nervous and excited to let you know that all eight episodes of Paper Girls are suddenly streaming early—AS IN RIGHT NOW—on Prime Video, just about everywhere in the world.
So why the hell are you reading this?! Turn off your dumb phone and switch on your sacred television to watch some of the best young performers I’ve ever seen in a series I just love.
Whenever you’re finished with your binge, please return to this dispatch to find out how YOU can win a shot at this one-of-a-kind Paper Girls Prize Package, containing a poster signed by creator Cliff Chiang, some bald dude, and all four Paper Girls (with a badass collector’s tube to keep it safe!), a very special 12-pack of Paper Girls pencils designed by Cliff and manufactured by legendary art supplier Blackwing, four rare pins created for SDCC, a coveted slap bracelet (!), and even this delectable cassette-cookie (still fresh!) baked by Sugar Babies exclusively for our first screening:
EDITED TO ADD: Our lucky winner will also get this unbelievably cool Cleveland Preserver canvas tote bag I totally forgot to include in that pic!
But before we get to how to win those prizes, let’s catch up on some Exploding Giraffe business and wrap up my coverage from Comic-Con.
(And seriously, Neil, I can’t wait for The Sandman next week on Netflix! It looks stunning.)
If you’re new to Exploding Giraffe, welcome!
Every Monday, artist Niko Henrichon, letterer Fonografiks, and I release a few new pages of our serialized graphic novel Spectators (you can read the first 66 pages for FREE in our archives), and every month, we randomly select one of you generous paid subscribers (a group of loyal giraffes we refer to by their zoological pack name as “The Tower”) at the monthly, annual or Founding level to receive one page of invaluable hand-painted original artwork by Niko from our book:
This month’s winner of the above masterpiece is…
Zak Kinsey!
Congrats, Zak, and someone from Exploding Giraffe will be reaching out soon for your shipping details.
Speaking of which, our intern Genesis the Giraffe is finally about to mail out the next batch of rewards for our incredible Founders, a tier that will only be available until Monday, so now is the ideal time to join or upgrade!
We may offer new Founder rewards in the future, but this will be your last opportunity to get an exclusive script to Saga #1, a signed comic from my personal collection, and most importantly, a full-color drawing from Niko (much more elaborate than the mere “sketch cards” we originally promised).
And yes, Founders, Genesis will reach out to confirm your mailing info before we send your prizes, but Niko is still working his way through the hundreds of Founders who joined in Exploding Giraffe’s first 48 hours, so we greatly appreciate your ongoing patience (and we’re now covering your shipping costs anywhere in the world as added thanks).
Niko’s still hoping to finish all of these sketches by the end of the summer, so if you don’t hear from us next week, don’t worry, your one-of-a-kind prize pack is still in the works. Check out what subject Niko is hard at work on after his awesome Star Wars set:
Right, just a few last cool moments from SDCC I wanted to share with you.
Lest you think it was all Hollywood sellout stuff, here are some of my favorite moments from the Image Comics booth, as well as from my signing with Cliff for his amazing art rep Felix Lu.
First up, check out the handmade Exploding Giraffe poncho adorning this alpaca gifted to me by the loved ones of fellow Substack creator Oscar Wins, a self-described “comic nerd from Peru who wants to make a name for himself in the North American comics scene.” Subscribed, Oscar! And thanks for the lovely present.
Behold the hand-crocheted horns on Saga reader Justin Alle-Corliss. A+ work, pal.
And here are two of the many, many Saga tattoos readers were nice enough to share (apologies for not writing down the names of these tasteful heroes!):
Finally, I was fortunate enough to score one piece of original art at this show, courtesy red-hot superstar Daniel Warren Johnson, who very kindly let me crash his signing to get this kick-ass sketch of Murder Falcon in my shiny new hardcover:
This is a must-read, as is DWJ’s equally excellent Do A Powerbomb! for our friends at Image Comics. Thanks so much again, Daniel.
Okay, prize time!
You want a shot at all of the killer Paper Girls merch above, please just tell us in the comment section below any one moment you enjoyed from our first eight episodes, streaming now on Prime Video!
What’s that, you can’t see the comment section? That’s because our Friday “private forum” is exclusively for paid members in The Tower! But never fear, you can always start a trial subscription to join us, which I certainly hope you will.
Either way, thanks so much for reading/watching, and I’ll see you back here on Monday for more Spectators.
