Happy Independence Day, those of you who celebrate such things!
Brian here, and if you learned about Exploding Giraffe in the back of this week’s Saga #60, WELCOME. That look behind the scenes of the 2022 Saga Reader Survey I mentioned in “To Be Continued” is over here.
You can learn more about this decidedly not-safe-for-work Substack I share with sensational Pride of Baghdad artist Niko Henrichon and indispensable Saga letterer Fonografiks in our introductory post, which also explains how/why you might join The Tower, paid subscription tiers that come with exclusive content, prize giveaways, blah blah commerce.
But if you’re just here for free comics, no worries, you can read the first thirty pages of our filthy serialized graphic novel Spectators right here…
…and after you finish that first big chunk of our planned 300+ page epic, here are the NEXT thirty gorgeous pages available for you to download instantly (and hopefully enjoy on the largest screen you’ve got; Niko’s spectacularly detailed artwork deserves it):
Val’s story still has some big surprises coming, with more free pages straight to your inbox (or app) every Monday.
For now, we’ll be sending one lucky new subscriber who joins Exploding Giraffe anytime this week (even just for free) a Saga Starter Kit, including the Saga Compendium, signed copies of Chapters 55-60, and some other fun swag. You can gift your kit to a loved one who hasn’t yet tried Saga or greedily keep it all for yourself; we’ll never know! Just introduce yourself in today’s open chat to be eligible:
If you’re already a loyal subscriber, never fear, we’ll also be sending a Saga Starter Kit to one of you who shares this very post with somebody new and tells us about it in the comments.
Thanks for helping spread Spectators! I know graphic sex and/or violence isn’t for everyone, but I’m obscenely proud of this story, and I hope some of you adventuresome Saga readers might enjoy.
Either way, Niko and I are so grateful to Substack and readers like YOU for allowing us to tell our story exactly how we’ve always wanted, and we look forward to getting to know you better over the weeks to come.
Your pal,
Brian
PS
Happy Patriotic Birthday to Tower member and my former futon-landlord Daniel M. Kanemoto. Dan, inspired by your BKV-related experimentation with MidJourney, my son “made” you this disquieting image of me as the not-so-friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Enjoy?
SPECTATORS - The First 60 Pages
For a day that started very poorly for me, seeing the first 60 pages and deciding to jump right back in and lose myself in Spectators sounds like a very appealing option. Thank you, Brian and Niko.
Hello! I’m James. Came via Orbital Operations, had mind a bit blown by a post :)
