I don’t really binge shows any more. I like the weekly pacing of Disney+ and some Amazon Prime releases. I found that binging shows causes very little to stay with me. It’s like empty calories. That said the last thing I watched multiple episodes of at one go was probably Chernobyl. I was a late arrival to the show and the whole thing was out shortly before I started watching.

I spent the last two weeks bingeing The Crown, which surprised me. Don't get me wrong, I can fuck with British costume dramas, but I hate the royals so I was suspicious of The Crown. Turns out, The Crown hates the royals too.
I finished the show the other day and I have never hated Prince Charles more.

Definitely Elden Ring. I'd never played a FromSoft game before and had little interest in wanting to bash my controller against the wall, which is how their games had been built up for me. But then I kept reading reviews comparing Elden Ring to Breath of the Wild, and I had some friends who were playing and talking it up, saying they could help me through hard bits with co-op. So I took the plunge...and 140 hours later, I finally beat it last week. Definitely the most time I've put into a single-player game, and it completely monopolized my free time in a way no game has in recent memory (my wife was less than enthused about that part). But it's such an incredible, hard-to-describe experience, and I highly encourage anyone on the fence to give it a try. =)

I ended up binging both seasons of Raised By Wolves. I don't necessarily recommend doing that. It's a slow burn of a show that probably needs time to digest. Instead I, well, took to it like it was an Old Country Buffet. I was left with a little bit of heartburn and a general sense of "what the hell did I just do?"
I binged Severance over the past weekend it was incredibly good. Beautifully shot, superbly acted (Adam Scott!), and hauntingly directed (by Ben Stiller, no less). Really enjoyed it.
I got Britbox recently and have been going absolutley hogwild on the David Suchet Poirot mysteries. Can't stop having them on. They really help my little grey cells.
Happy (and a bit embarrassed) having my comment in the post! Last surprise binge was probably Eastown, which I unexpectedly finished in a day, I think.

I am very selective now when it comes to going on a Television show binge. Too often have I been invested in a show that gets cancelled or ultimately wasn't worth the time invested. I find when episodes are released on the weekly schedule, there is more time to digest and have a "water cooler" community surrounding it. I also gain the benefit of sitting with what I watched and really get to determine over time if I'm enjoying the show as it unfolds, rather than immediately continuing to the next episode. The last show I binged was "Peacemaker" on HBO Max. I loved The Suicide Squad (and James Gunn) so I knew it was a safe time investment. I enjoyed it very much.

How dare you question the gospel of Ray Parker Jr.! And I think yeah technically it is, but the song isn't being sung in proper English and I'm assuming follows the proper aave grammar rules to keep it from being a double negative. I have no idea if anything I just said is true.
And I binged Our Flag Means Death over the weekend. Fantastic show with much more heart in it than I expected and wonderful acting all around. Highly recommend.

Technology Connections on YouTube.
Mystery man goes over everyday technology we use. He'll go over history and how they work. As many videos I've seen i keep forgetting to pay attention to see if he introduces himself. His outro music reminds me of some old PBS special. They're both fun channels.

After being on the eternal waitlist for the audiobook of Mythos by Stephen Fry from my library I finally got it last week. I had two weeks to get through it and thought it would take that long, but I finished it in two days. Greek myths alternate between being horrifying and repetitive, but some authors in recent times have found novel ways of reframing them. Madeline Miller and Natalie Haynes have also got it figured out.

Stranger things. I shouldn't have been surprised, because it's always been wonderful. But this most recent season was so so so so so perfect, I can't remember the last time I watched a TV show for 4 hours.
Oh wait. How about the kids tv show Bluey. Because toddlers, Disney+ and surprisingly good parent humor.

For me, it’s Law and Order: SVU! These days I’m pretty avoidant of anything resembling “copaganda,” but Benson and Stabler played a remarkably formative role in my life. They inspired me to be an advocate for victims as a domestic/sexual violence counselor which eventually led into my profession as a therapist today! As I watch the show today, I see SO many examples of poor victim advocacy (and straight-up abuses of power), but I think that back when this show came out it was very much ahead of its time and put into public consciousness difficult questions that most people wouldn’t ever consider. Moreover, it’s so rare to find a show where the main characters really CARE about the people they serve, even if their approach is flawed.

Re-binged the superb Danish political drama Borgen on Netflix, and I'm pacing myself through the new series, Borgen: Power & Glory.

Tokyo Vice on HBOMAX was outstanding, finished it in 2 days
