So long, New York City.
Brian here, typing this at JFK before heading home from a brief but spectacular few days with friends, family and collaborators in NYC. Sorry I didn’t have time to visit the actual NYCC show this year, but I hope to be back to the Big Apple for signings and a proper Exploding Giraffe meet-up someday soon.
For now, let’s get right to today’s new pages of Spectators from artist/co-creator Niko Henrichon and letterer Fonografiks, as our ghosts Val and Sam watch the unthinkable continue to unfold back in the land of the living…
Haunting, in every sense of the word, huh?
Wait until you see what Niko has waiting for you next week. As always, viewer discretion is advised.
Looking for more free comics to read today? Of course you are.
My dear pal and Y: The Last Man collaborator Goran Sudžuka wrote and drew a very cool silent short story called “Invasion” in the excellently named new anthology Farto, featuring several wildly talented Croatian cartoonists.
The entire first issue is currently free to read right over here, so get downloading while the downloading’s good.
Did anyone else get their copy of The Winter Men Artist’s Edition by the late, great John Paul Leon?
Just look at the detail in this thing (with my dumb clodhopper in the frame to give you a sense of just how enormous the book is):
Congrats to everyone who worked so hard on this masterpiece (especially editor Scott Dunbier). It’s the best treatment imaginable of the best work ever from one of our medium’s all-time great artists.
And thanks to those of you absurdly patient trade-waiters for giving Saga Volume 10 such a spectacular launch last week. Sounds like some of the major online retailers are having trouble keeping up with demand, so as always, Fiona Staples and I encourage you to please support your local comic/book shop instead.
I’ve got another signed copy to give out, so our intern Genesis will randomly select one of you thoughtful commenters from this week’s chat, which is open to everyone:
Saturday’s epic, 15-inning Cleveland Guardians win got me thinking, if you were a professional baseball player/wrestler/etc., what would your walk-up/entrance song be?
Please let us know your bright idea in the comments, and I’ll see you generous paid subscribers back here on Friday for some more pulse-pounding bonus content!
