I’m sorry 😞 about the news πŸ—ž (pun intended) will continue to follow the story as it develops, thanks for letting us know ❀️

We got rid of Xfinity for ATT Fiber this weekend, so our Saturday was shot, but the new service did glorious, it’s cheaper faster and I never have to deal with Xfinity customer service again. :) Sunday we went to a Polish Festival and I pigged out on pirogies, quite weekend overall so I look forward to living vicariously through the other posters.

Was that the one in Pittsburgh? I ask because the pierogi place by me here (Pietrzyk in Detroit) said they won best pierogi there.

Really hope the show gets picked up quick. How else can we show support for it? Plus, I'm too old for trouble.

Thanks, BH. I'm honestly not sure what viewers can do at this stage, but I'll let everyone know what I hear. Sorry. I think Jack Kirby only said "comics will break your heart" because he didn't spend more time in television.

I’m just randomly going to say β€œHey Alexa, save Paper Girls.” Hopefully it will make it through their algorithms

By the way Brian, I binged Severance over the weekend, good show, it definitely makes the cut for my β€œwould recommend” list πŸ‘πŸΌ

ARGH that's so awful about Paper Girls! Just checked out the Deadline story on it though and Legendary is shopping it around, so...hope yet?

This weekend: No trouble aside from beating Inscryption, which, if you've played it, is getting into a whole lot of very bad trouble. (Also everyone should play that game if they haven't yet. It's best gone into cold, so I'll just say it's a rogue-like card game in the same way Paper Girls is a comic about four girls who deliver newspapers in the '80s.)

I had a lot of fun with that game too. If you haven't looked up the ARPG campaign that went along side with the game, you really should. I ended up watching something like an hour and half breakdown of the whole thing. Very neat stuff. Woulda been a blast to be part of when it was ongoing! Maybe next release!

Typical football season weekend for me - watching my Charlotte 49ers play like a Division II team and seeing my Panthers underwhelm and lose a game they should have won (but hey our new seats we upgraded to this year are on point!) Good news is my Fantasy Team (Lying Cat) is going to win their game assuming Jerry Jeudy does not have a career game tonight.

Hate to hear the news about Paper Girls. My wife has been working her way through the TPs. Not sure if I should tell her the news or not...

It is a bummer, but I still hold out hope that it can makes it's way back around sans Amazon. They are bastards.

I too enjoyed some loud music this past weekend! My wife and I went to see Tenacious D this past Sunday in philly and it rocked 🀘 the highlight was the phallic shaped castle background they used for part of the show with an open gate that closely resembled a vagina.

I’m trying not to think about Paper Girls being canceled. The casting was perfect and I’m not ready to say goodbye to them yet.

Very generous installment this week! Lots to think about… and this is weird: 2nd time today I’ve heard about Swedish House Mafia! They’ve helped design a new line of furniture and music stuff (including a turntable) for IKEA! Check it out: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/files/pdf/54/af/54affa90/obergraensad_pr-kit_sept22.pdf

Thanks, Robert! And I gotta say, that's a nice desk for $199.

Shit! Really sorry for you about Paper Girls. Wish I could write something profound and uplifting for you, but all I can come up with is β€˜Shit!’

It was one of those bad news on the doorstep kind of weekends. I also got real jacked up by HBO's Hard Knocks and went to Ford Field to have the Lions drag me back down to reality. Spectators is killing it though. Another great one!

Smokeyling's avatar

At the Lions looked pretty good in the loss, Al. Was back in MI for a few days, happily for family time, sadly for a couple Tigers' losses...we almost went to the Lions game, too.

I am trying to stay hopeful Smokey.

Asa we Lions fans do every season...at least when it starts : )

The Paper Girls news last week was a hard blow (and not the good Spectators kind of blow). I'm truly very sorry. I hope it can find a new home. For now though, I'm happy to blame Bezos for any and all decisions I disagree with relating to Amazon. So fuck that guy.

I also ended up at a concert this weekend. Last minute decision to see Florence and the Machine with my significant other and a good friend. It was good salve for the soul. Dancing and howling in an outdoor venue under a full moon. This old lady stayed out past her bedtime.

Saw a late show of 'Barbarian' at the local small cinema. Five minutes before showtime it looked like I would have the place to myself, but that's when four dudes came in and took the row behind me. Halfway through the movie, two of them started snoring loudly and I was reminded of the joys of the cinema.

Lucas Cook's avatar

My wife had a very similar experience a while back seeing something when I was away. An older couple came and sat down right in front of her, and kept asking each other if they were sleeping back and forth, and then eventually both were asleep and snoring.

AMC should work snoring guests into their next promo.

Ugh other people at the cinema are the bane of my life !!!

When I saw Malignant I was the only one in the screen and then these two couples came and sat right in front of me and my god I came this close to jump scaring them when the tension was highest in that film πŸ˜‚

Still, the cinema rocks 😝

This weekend in the UK has been something else.

The radios have all been playing sad music and there are no adverts. It's been back to back teary clichΓ©s for 96 hours now. I can't take it anymore. I'd give anything to hear sweedish house mafia. ANYTHING.

We hit a drive in during COVID’s early stages and I discovered the joys of watching a movie on the big screen from the comfort of my own car. If they have anything like that near you, check it out. It was a fun thrown to what I imagine my parents did when they were younger.

So sad to hear the news but I hope season 2 finds a new network. No trouble over the weekend but lotsa moving about.
