Hi everyone,
I very rarely show my sketchbooks or research drawings, mostly because I’ve accumulated so many of them over the years, and in a very chaotic manner to say the least. I feel like every time I want to have a look on past sketches, I need to put on scuba diving equipment.
However, lately I found a big folder that I haven’t seen for many years that contained, almost in logical order, a bunch of live model sketches that I did about 15 years ago, when I was still living in Quebec.
I remembered how helpful live model drawing was when I started studying comics and illustration at an art school in Belgium. The school curriculum had mandatory live model drawing sessions for 10 hours per week during a 3 years program. That’s a lot of sketched paper! One day, I may dive deep enough to find these drawings as well. Which might be a bit unsettling.
For now, I’d love to share some of my favorite pieces with our generous paid subscribers in The Tower, though if you’re at work, please be advised that a significant amount of nudity follows.
For our free members of Exploding Giraffe, we’ll see you back here on Monday for more new pages of Spectators. Either way, have a wonderful weekend!
